Satellite telephone services are not permitted in India. The use of handsets of Thuraya, Irridium and other such satellite operators is, therefore, unauthorized and the holder can be prosecuted under Section (6) of the Indian Wireless Act and Section 20 of the Indian Telegraph Act. Under the law persons including tourists found to be making unauthorized use of satellite telephone services will be prosecuted and all the sets found in possession of any individual will be seized. All visitors from abroad are, therefore, advised not to carry any satellite telephones to India.

Open House with Consul General
The Consulate has always accorded the highest priority to promoting welfare of the Indian community. Consul General, Mrs. M. Subashini has always been available for meetings with members of Indian community. It has been further decided that Consul General would meet members of Indian Community in an ‘Open House’ at the Indian Consulate in Hamburg, every fortnight on the first and third Wednesday of every month. The purpose of the ‘Open House’ is to create a direct channel of communication with the community on a regular basis and to hear grievances of Indian nationals in distress. In case, Consul General is out of town on the designated day, or there is a change in the time of the meeting, a notice in advance shall be given.
Designation of a "Community Welfare Officer
Further, Shri Mukesh Kumar Ambasta, Vice-Consul (Cons) in this Consulate has been designated as the ‘Community Welfare Officer’ for providing assistance to the Indian community. He is available in the Consulate on all the working days for personal interaction.
NOTICE
Persuant to the decision of Government of India contained vide cabinet Note No. 01/11012/25/2007-US (EP-I) dated October, 2009, an amount of Euro 2.- (Euros Two only) will be levied as CONSULAR SURCHARGE per applicant with effect from 1st April, 2011 for all consular services including VISA, Passport, attestation, OCI, PIO services etc. except issue of Gratis Visas rendered by Indian Missions/Posts abroad. The Consulate General of India, Hamburg and /or its outsourcing agency, the Indo-German Consultancy Services Ltd. will collect the surcharge from the Applicants accordingly.

ausgelagert worden sind. Das indische Generalkonsulat
in Hamburg wird am Schalter eingereichte
Anträge zukünftig nur noch für Indische
Reisepässe/PIO Card/OCI Card und Beglaubigungen
/ Bescheinigungen annehmen.
